UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
The University of Kansas Medical Center and The University of Kansas School of Medicine are seeking an academic psychiatrist of unique vision, enthusiasm, and experience for the position of Chair. The Chair will ensure the excellence of the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
Department’s educational, scientific, and clinical programs and have overall responsibility for operations and strategy across the department. The Chair will focus on growing the research enterprise while sustaining the department’s reputation in all mission areas including the advancement and development of outstanding clinical and educational programs.
This position requires a dynamic, passionate, and experienced leader with a proven record of success across the spectrum of administration, financial management, clinical leadership, program development, basic or clinical research, education, and community engagement.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE
Successful administrative experience as a leader at an academic institution
Experience as a Division Director, Vice Chair or Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, developing academic leaders and mentoring junior faculty while identifying and recruiting students, trainees, staff, and faculty. Knowledge of the complex financial pressures facing academic medical centers and health care delivery organizations. Experience with enhancing clinical quality/outcomes and in value-based care.
National reputation for personal academic accomplishments
A record of scholarly academic accomplishments as reflected in number and impact of publications, history of successful research funding, and serving in national and international societies. Proven experience building a research program within a department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences.
Growing clinical programs
Proven track record of leading a large, successful clinical program in an academic environment. Must be capable of defining both the clinical and the academic vision of the department and provide experience in mentorship across all missions.
M.D./D.O. degree and board certification in Psychiatry or Behavioral Sciences
Licensed or eligible for medical licensing in Kansas.
