Works in Progress (WIPS) Proposal

Submission Deadline: January 31, 2019, Midnight Pacific

Works-In-Progress (WIPS) workshops provide educators and investigators with a chance to obtain feedback to help refine a paper, teaching method or tool, curriculum, research project, or other endeavor in progress. This is a unique opportunity to get help from your colleagues and experts in an informal and supportive atmosphere on a project that is incomplete, or on which you are not sure how to move forward. Speakers will present for approximately 10-15 minutes. They will outline the hoped-for outcomes and relevant specifics of their project as well as specific feedback or objectives that they would like to achieve from the dialogue in the workshop. A presentation format will be provided to structure the presentations to stay within the time limit and allow for productive feedback. Attendees provide feedback and suggestions for the rest of the session. The focus is on assisting the presenter to develop the content or subject of the work for publication or implementation of the work-in-progress; projects that are already completed should be submitted to the Educators’ Showcase or as full workshops or posters. WIPS applicants should have a clear question in mind that can be answered with audience feedback.

NOTE: There is a 250-word limitation when entering abstract text. The system will not allow you to enter any more than that. The review process is blinded, so be sure to remove all institutional and/or presenter references from your abstract submission. If there are identifying institutional/presenter references, they will be removed by AAP staff prior to review.
