Five Positions Available at Dell Medical School and the University of Texas Medical Center

The Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a board certified/board eligible Psychiatrist to join our clinical faculty and serve on our team in Austin, Texas. We seek a physician who will help our Department achieve our goal of working with our community partners to develop clinical, educational and research initiatives that revolutionize how people get and stay mentally healthy in Central Texas and beyond.

About the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences

Our department leads psychiatry education for the Dell Medical School and its post-graduate programs train mental health professionals to become 21st-century leaders in the fields of psychiatry and psychology. Clinical services provide informed, evidence-based care for individuals and families in multiple general medical and specialty behavioral health settings with an active and strong presence in community settings.  Importantly, the Department is leading efforts at the University of Texas-Austin to execute cutting-edge basic and clinical research that illuminates the underlying neurobiological causes of psychiatric disorders and identifies novel treatments for psychiatric disorders.

Available Positions:

The Addiction Psychiatrist & Researcher will provide high-quality clinical care and contribute to addiction psychiatry education within the Dell Medical School and Integral Care. This role involves leading and mentoring in clinical and fellowship programs, collaborating on innovative models of care, and engaging in multidisciplinary research on alcohol and substance use disorders, supported by the Waggoner Center for Alcohol and Addiction Research. Additionally, the role offers opportunities for collaboration with the VA and other UT Austin departments to advance clinical and research initiatives in addiction psychiatry. The Adult Addiction Psychiatrist will provide high-quality clinical care in a community mental health setting, train and mentor medical students and residents, and support the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship program. The role includes collaboration with Dell Medical School, Integral Care, and other UT Austin departments on innovative, multidisciplinary care models. Clinical responsibilities involve telemedical and in-person care, thorough documentation, and working within specialized settings like outpatient clinics and substance abuse treatment programs. The Adult Inpatient Psychiatrist will provide clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary inpatient team through Dell Medical School’s collaboration with Seton Healthcare Family. Primary responsibilities include high-quality evaluation and treatment of a wide range of psychiatric disorders in an inpatient setting, along with teaching and mentoring medical students and residents. The Associate Program Director of General Psychiatry Residency will support the Program Director in managing program administration, curriculum design, resident evaluation, and compliance with ACGME standards. This role includes advocating for resident well-being, developing educational experiences, and collaborating across clinical and research divisions to enhance training.
