AAP Institutional Membership Application

The Association for Academic Psychiatry (AAP) focuses on education in psychiatry at every level from the beginning of medical school through lifelong learning for psychiatrists and other physicians. AAP seeks to help psychiatrists who are interested in careers in academic psychiatry develop the skills and knowledge in teaching, research and career development that they must have to succeed. AAP provides a forum for members to exchange ideas on teaching techniques, curriculum, and other issues and to work together to solve problems. The Association works with other professional organizations on mutual interests and objectives through committee liaison and collaborative programs. AAP members are encouraged to become involved in AAP committees and other volunteer opportunities.

AAP Distinguished Fellow

Psychiatrists, educators, or mental health professionals with a major commitment to psychiatric education and/or academic psychiatry are eligible for Individual Membership. Benefits include a subscription to Academic Psychiatry; AAP listserv access; online newsletter; right to nominate self and others for AAP Awards; and reduced Annual Meeting registration fees.

Individual Membership if paid onsite at the Annual Meeting

Available ONLY to Individual Members who are affiliated with an institutional partner organization.

Psychiatrists, educators, or mental health professionals who have emeritus status at his/her institution and/or have retired from practice or other position which was the principal source of professional income by reason of either age or permanent disability are eligible for Emeritus Membership. Benefits include a subscription to Academic Psychiatry; AAP listserv access; online newsletter; right to nominate self and others for AAP Awards; and reduced Annual Meeting registration fees.

Residents or medical students with a committed interest in psychiatric education and/or academic psychiatry are eligible for individual membership with member-in-training status. Benefits include a subscription to Academic Psychiatry, AAP listserv access, and online newsletter.
